How does Mediation work?
Steps in Mediation
Intake Meeting
This is where I will meet with both parties separately to gather information and see if this process is a right fit for your family. These meetings are confidential, you are able to discuss your concerns if you have any, your position, and ask questions about how mediation will work.
Agreement
to Mediate
Once both parties have completed their Intake Meetings and wish to move forward with mediation, I will provide the parties a copy of what is called "An Agreement to Mediate". This outlines the terms of mediation.
Mediation
Mediation can be done via in person, or in Zoom. Mediation can also be done together or what we call "Shuttle" Mediation, this is both parties in separate rooms and I will go back and forth between the parties to discuss your comments, questions, concerns. Mediation also does not have to be only one session, if parties need to come back, they are freely able to schedule as many sessions as they feel the need to complete agreements for their family.
Agreement
If you have come to an agreement on some or if not all issues that had been addressed within the mediation session, I will prepare a written agreement that states in detail what the parties have agreed to. We will review it to ensure that all information is correct .
